ChiefTimothyPark
Gateway to Hells Canyon — the deepest river gorge in North America
About the Park
Chief Timothy Park sits on a stunning 282-acre island on Lower Granite Lake in the Snake River. The park serves as the gateway to Hells Canyon Recreation Area — the deepest river gorge in North America — and is surrounded by striking scenery, rich cultural history, and endless outdoor adventure.
The land was once settled by the Nez Perce Tribe, and the park is named in honor of a tribal chief. Don’t miss the Listening Circle, a landscape installation by celebrated artist Maya Lin, just a short walk from the campground.
